"One of the nicest places in Jamaica to down a cold Red Stripe, this whimsical structure sits on stilts ½ mi (1 km) offshore between Treasure Beach and Black River, atop a small sandbar, and reachable only by boat. It has become a local legend and a mandatory stop for many visitors to the South Coast. It’s rustic style is deliberately unpretentious with, a charming, thatched designed wooden structure mangrove. At the pelican bar, you can watch your choice of freshly caught seafood prepared to your taste. Enjoy, relax, and soak up that horizon. "

Appleton Estate Rum Tour gives the visitor an inside look at the rum-making process. Visitors watch resident donkey "Pax" demonstrate how juice was extracted from sugarcane in the 18th century. From there the tour takes visitors to the Distillery & Aging House where the different methods of distillation are shown. Visitors are then able to juice their own cane, sample white rum and boil "wet sugar".
